Simulator IE7 ftp/html help
« on: July 04, 2008, 07:12:58 PM »
Hi,

I am trying to load the html files through ftp.

I get to the ftp page, it is empty, passive ftp is disabled.
I drag over the files but when I go back to the http page and refresh I still get the orignal Error page of no files found.

Any suggestions, I believe I am following the steps in the documentation.

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark

In SP7 - in the webpages directory - there is a bat file which allows all web pages to be loaded using a script. This uses DOS FTP and so is compatible for all Windows operating systems. FTP programs can work quite differently - the FTP support in IE7 is not very useable (I still use an XP PC with IE6.0 on it especially for working with FTP since it allows simple drag-and-drop rather than the tedious method of most other programs - unfortunately upgrading to IE7 doesn't allow IE6 to be used any...

The bat file just has to be adapted to include the correct IP address and then you can load all files by simply double clicking it. This has proved to be a good method to keep it simple and avoid specific FTP client difficulties.
