IANA distributes last IPv4 addresses
« on: February 04, 2011, 12:15:59 PM »
Hi All

IANA (the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) has just distributed (3.2.2011) the last IPv4 blocks to the regional registers (IRRs).

This means that the regional registers will be issuing their last IPv4 addresses to providers and companies in the next few weeks and months.

The 16 million addresses that each of the 5 IRRs has is expected to be finally exhausted by around the middle of the year, after which IPv6 is the only alternative that they then have.

Regards

Mark
