BSP for STM3220G-EVAL
« on: January 19, 2014, 03:01:05 PM »
Does the current BSP for STM32 support the STM3220G-EVAL?

Thanks!
Bert

Hi Bert

The project has settings for the following evaluation boards:
- STM3210C_EVAL [STM32F107VCT]
- STM3240G_EVAL [STM32F407IGH6]

as well as for the discovery boards
- ST_MB913C_DISCOVERY [STM32F100RB]
- ST_MB997A_DISCOVERY [STM32F407VGT6] (with or without EMBEST_BASE_BOARD)

There is no setting for F2 or F3 evaluation boards.

As far as I know the F2 and F4 devices are equivalent with respect to peripherals (F2 has Cortex-M3 and F4 has Cortex-M4) so there is a chance that the STM3240G_EVAL setup will run on the STM3220G-EVAL as it is. It may however require some adjustments - possibly only small (if ports are not connected identically) but maybe also larger (if the peripherals prove to be not always compatible).

Unfortunately I don't have this board to try it on. In addition I have heard very little about the F2 family since it seems that most new STM32 users start with the F4 - why are you interested in the F2 rather than the F4?

Regards

Mark

Hi Bert

I would see what happens with the STM3240G_EVAL because it might actually work.

How many such boards do you have? Maybe you may like to offer them (some of them) for sale? They are quite expensive things new and I didn't invest in one due to the fact that I otherwise never heard of anyone using the F2 parts...

Regards

Mark

P.S. I invested in 14 new boards yesterday (various Freescale ones) and am glad that they didn't all cost as much as the ST EVAL boards, otherwise my credit card would certainly have been blocked...;-)

P.P.S. Used STM3220G-EVALs are offered on Ebay for between $200 and $400. Farnell wants $800 for a new one.
