6LoWPAN - uTasker powered wireless solution for SAM7X
« on: June 09, 2009, 07:12:27 PM »
Hi All

ATMEL has developed complete IEEE 802.15.4 compliant, IPV6/6LoWPAN based and ZigBeeTM certified wireless solutions based on a family of RF transceivers, AVR and ARM microcontrollers.

Quote: "Atmel’s Route Under MAC (RUM) with support for IPv6 and 6LoWPAN is a highly flexible stack solution for low power and low cost wireless sensor network applications."

The software stack for the SAM7X uses the uTasker as base as is described in full detail at www.atmel.com/6lowpan

He's wishing Atmel great success with their new solution!

Regards

Mark

Hi Mark,
I have a project that requires a wireless solution at 100m range (line of site). I am not sure the best way, either use an off the shelf zigbee solution and use a small module at cost of approx £15, or design my own. I can use zigbee or FM, but remember a conversation we had regarding an ATMEL based processor that is wireless. Do you have an update on this? If I design my own, does it require a license to use it? I was informed that any design on FM/Zigbee etc would require a license to use it ,that would cost big money.

Thanks
Neil

Hi Neil

I can't answer these question due to lack of experience, however try to contact Rich at http://www.cpustick.com/wireless.htm
He has experience with ZigBee together with Freescale (and others) and may be able to help out.

Mark

Has anyone ever use the demo from ATMEL, which merged RUM into uTasker creating a 6LOWPAN solution for their ATMEL Raven boards.

Hey guys,

i want to start the 6lowpan demo on the sam7x-ek with REB and REB231.
My problem is:

I can't find the bin-file "uTaskerV13_RUM_Demo.bin"(Figure 4-6-2; p.17) decribed in AVR2070 Route under mac pdf on the utasker website!

Does anyone have a hint for my where 2 find the file?

Kind regards,
dirty

Hi dirty

The ATMEL 6LoWPAN demo binary is not on the uTasker web site.
You may be able to find something on the ATMEL website(?)

The project was developed by the ATMEL team - if they don't have a binary it may mean that they prefer you to compile it yourself following their instructions. This will require the utasker V1.3 version for ATMEL, which is always supplied to new users aloing with the present V1.4 version.
